If you had 185HP stock, then you had the 'red box' with a 2.8 bar fuel regulator. It is basically a standard issue with the pots turned.

~88 9000T came stock with 175hp only in some european markets (mine was one)because it didn't have a catalyst, and the boost was 12psi ( a little higher base boost setting)

When I got my modified box from SPG9 it was out of a '87 model year, and different # on the box. It doen't matter however, as the internals are identical.

I believe SPG9 sells the C900 and 9000 boxes separately because the stage 2 9000 box can be sent out with the prescribed 23psi (as long as you have larger injectors and RRFPR, or a fuel chip and a RRFPR), and many C900 customers don't want to run that much boost because of the smaller intercooler, BUT want more boost than a stage 1 . Maybe I'm not making that much sense, I dunno. What I do know is that the SPG9 boxes are internally modified through a reverse engineering process (on computer)....not just a few resistors here, and a few turns there...over 7 modifications in the stage 2. Nothing can come close to that box.

Who out there can honestly say they can sustain over 22psi to redline with a self tweaked box? that's the difference, and there's no guessing in terms of safety, that is provided that you have enough fuel. The Eric P box (SPG9) has been out for several years, use to be group6.

not sure if I answered all you q's but this is a start
