The T7 monitors the pressure and the mass air flow via the MAF sensor. If you intercept the MAF the mixures will go bad and you get a CEL. If it sees higher MAF readings without the pressure going up... you get the picture. Everything has a maps of acceptable behaviour.
The BPC (boost pressure control) valve is better than the ones on the T5s. Some believe that it does not apply any pressure early.
You could install an adjustable pressure swith and have it venting off WGA pressure until the pressure is where you set it, or block pressure to the BPC, same result. Or, just install a pressure relief valve to not flow before a set point. Same thing. The pressure relief valve with a hole drilled in it is a MBC. The basic relief valve is cheap! All electromnic is not neccessarily better.
So the SMBC is just a MBC with its vent hole plugged up to turn in back into a basic adjustable relief valve. So there is a cheap and effective solution to prevent early WGA operation.
So there are a few ways to accomplish the same thing, cheap and simple is often the best.
