Oil cooler fitted cars come with the oil filter/thermostat housing unit which automatically controls flow to the cooler. All you need to do is transfer that unit to your car, along with the appropriate hoses. I'm guessing you are intending to install the above bumper radiator frame mounted cooler. Post 85 cars come with the below bumper design because of the positioning of the intercooler which requires the same space as the former oil cooler. If you have in mind to mount a below bumper unit, I do know that your car should already have the holes drilled through the frame for the hoses. However, I don't know what, if any, different below bumper cooler designs there may be for post 88 year cars. I custom drilled and fitted both left and right side below bumper oil cooler units (86 donor car) on my 82T. One for the engine oil, the other for pre-turbo oil cooling. The right side can also serve as a cooler for the tranny oil if and when I acquire the necessary hardware and pump.
