pull out the advance retard diaphram hold the pot in one hand & the actuator rod in the other pull the rod outward you will notice its outward movement is limited by a peg which you see the rivit from the outside I take a pair of vise grips put one jaw on top of the peg & the other on the back side (on the rivit) & bend the peg so that the gap between the peg & the step in the arm is 2 times the OE gap this wil give you more retard unser boost which will reduce pinging which will allow the APC to keep boost more stable I remember when I first did this how impressed I was with the results
you advance the timing a few degrees because if you left it alone it would be a lil too retarded plus the extra initial timing helps spool up & throttle response a bit
take care
JAK
PS at about 200 crank HP your clutch will begin to slip I had a new OE clutch slipping with the mods I advise you of but I was a lil more agressive with the APC & cranked up the wastegate to 7 lbs too
when the clutch slips upgrade it with a grippier disk
