Hi HTH:
Great job on those upgrades. Your Vector looks beautiful. Now I am more exited than ever to get some mods going.
I like the brakes...did you paint them are or they new calipers? The Abbott exhaust is neat...along with the drop in filter. What did you gain with that?..powerwise. You sent a dyno for the car that appears to show a max of 200 bhp, and that rises much more quickly than the premod. What did you instal (another ECU)? This power curve is still close to the Vectors factory rating of 210 hp...why? Looks like the car is now quicker at the lower end. How is the lag? How is the sound. Why did you go for Abbott? Was the upgraded engine exhaust what you hoped and expected? What would you change?
I do wonder about the BSR units. I did talk to the US supplier at TaliaferroSaab who claims to have installed a hundred of these and says the PPC is a great product. He also says that his collegues in Sweden have run the SS software for sometime now...so they have a lot of experience with it. Hirsch is another supplier, but much more expensive and with less performance....apparently GM has delayed their entrance into the US...I assume that this is the upgrade I heard about, that is Saab approved.
After seeing yours, I am inclined to the filter, ppc, exhaust package...but I am still thinking about it. I suspect you are right, Saab would not know of the software change unless they checked their computer. Taliaferro says Saab cannot tell the modification is present, but I am not sure yet what that means. Looks like a call is in order.
Have you had gear grinding in 2 and 3? Have you found a fix? Thinking of an oil change. Others have found similar problems. I sill get clunks at time from the front. My Saab dealer has not been able to find an answer to either, yet.
I am curious on how the Saab's adaptive engine system works. I see it mentioned in the brochure. It implies that the ECU tracks your driving habits and then sets up the engine to respond accordingly. I seem to notice (from the butt) that at times the car has more getup and go than other times, and so I wonder why and what it has to do with this system. I did read that you need to train the car on a long uphill slope at max throttle, above 3000 rpm, to set the max boost. I am still searching for how and why and I am checking your suggested search for fuel trim.
Still looking for a good manual that explains the car's workings.
I also found what looks like nice metal racepedal upgrades for the car-look up http://www.ultimatepedals.com.
Anyway, I really appreciate your input. You have done a classy job on your car.
Let me know your thoughts and I will let you know what I will do along with results.
Take car,
Alex
