I managed to save the post with the info in it. Karl originally posted it. Here it is:
9000 Aero: new upgraded clutch installed
Posted by Karl (more from Karl) on Mon, 5 Feb 2001 13:07:45
Just had my new clutch package installed last week, including a reinforced
pressure plate from Sachs. It fits right in where the
standard pressure plate (bolt-on just doesn't feel like the right word to
use when it comes to clutches...LOL).
It gives a significantly harder feel to the clutch pedal, as well as
slightly less "travel". So the "engagement spectrum" (damn, can't
think of a good English expression...) is smaller than stock. But apart
from the pressure plate it's all stock, so apart from pedal
feel it engages as smootly as a standard clutch does.
It is rated to handle 525 Nm static torque and 600 Nm peak torque (for you
inch-guys that's 387 and 442 lbs/ft respectively).
So, all of a sudden that makes the the clutch the strongest link in the
chain...
Just thought I'd let you know my experience so far. Haven'a applied all
that Saab power to it yet as car is currently completely
stock (as I got the insurance company to pay for it all...my stock clutch
was slipping badly).
It was about 250 USD (here in Sweden), compared to 160 USD for the
standard pressure plate. So the hardware isn't all that
expensive. Sachs part # is 30 82 999 740.
I can recommend it for those running serious power in 9000's. Anything
above 260 will see life span of original clutch shortened
quite significantly...
