blowbye Posted by jak [Email] ![]() ![]() |
so Ive had this blowbye problem under boost which looked pretty normal at idle no pulsing fumes from the oil fill tube
it pressureizes my crankcase pushing oil into the turbine housing when I let off the throttle (Ive had the turbo apart 3 times & there is nothing rong it has about 6Kmi on it)
so since I blew the trans I pulled & disassembled the engine today
the pistons were a little loose not too bad the ring lands were tight not veed out like I thought they would be all & all the pistons looked fine I could see the machine grooves in the pistons still even on the skirts
what I did find was that the rings dident have the chrome upper ring Ive normaly seen they were I believe american rings the upper ring said top on it
the upper ring was fairly relaxed compared to the second definatly unloaded the gap was like 1/2 the size of the second ring & the diameter smaller too
I think the tremendous pressure & heat of my combustion relaxed the upper ring allowing more blowbye I could see evidence of blowbye at the top of the cylinders
just thought Id share
Ill have the SPG up in a week or so
take care
