True manual steering rack finally installed in my LPT

After driving my turbocharged '86 notchback around with a non-power-assisted power steering rack and pinion for 30K+ miles, I have finally installed a '79 900 GLi manual steering rack and pinion. While the road feel was excellent with the power rack's hydraulic assist disabled (pump and lines removed, bypass loop installed on rack inlet/outlets), parking lot maneuvering and high-speed tight turns (like in autocrossing) were VERY difficult (Popeye has nothing on my forearms now).
The GLi rack I installed has the same 4.2 turns lock-to-lock, but it is a very nice compromise between the OEM power steering feel and the incredibly heavy feel I had previously. I can park with one arm no problem now. Maybe one day I'll come across a 900 EMS 3.5 turn rack and try that out, but this is a definite improvement. I am running 205/50ZR 16 tires on '98 9000 CSE rims with Intrax springs and Bilstein Heavy Duty shocks.
