Actually, that's 376 lb-ft, which is like 500+Nm. However, my bad here, 'max gearbox torque' is one of those special terms that doesn't mean what it looks like it does. DOh! I looked it up, it's the max torque of the engine multiplied by the torque converter ratio (works out to 1.5). Dunno what it really represents, besides an actual max torque value at the input shaft.
I'll answer a different way, as I've been researching the 4-speed AF30, on which the AF33 is based: it's pegged at 310Nm max in every Saab doc I can find. But the 00-01 auto Aero puts out 330Nm, and GM's site, which calls it the MC1, pegs it at 350Nm. And we know 400+ breaks it.
So, either there's lots of boilerplate and misprints floating around, or there's 'growing' room for the same unit over successive years. AF33/5 is new so its limits are probably slightly higher that that.
As for a chip, change the fluid more often (pricey for the 5-speed fluid)...I think longevity also depends on the chip program, how much it respects the torque drop during shifting and how limited it is in the lower gears, where most of the wear is going to happen at high power levels.
