The Abbott unit stinks and overpriced. There have been improvements in MBC's and the major one being a ball-spring MBC. The abbott unit is not a ball spring MBC and simply bleeds pressure through.
There are many better MBc's out there and the dawes style MBC seems to be, IMO the fastest controller out of all of them. All Ball-speing MBc have issues with overshots but the dawes has the least of the issues comparatively.
I have been working on a MBC+A kit for the 9K crowd but just haven't been able to get my head under the hood of one of them lately. So maybe you can help with the process.
Some folks who upgrade to a modified ECU still have times where the MBC is needed. With a modifed ecu, the issue still remains that there is boost lag, so some use a MBC to reduce the lag but allow the ecu to do the work at the BPC so a SMBC would be a nice compormise when a upgraded ecu is in the mix. Some use a 2 stage MBC to allow a switch from the use of the MBC in first and seciond gear and then use a sloinoid to switch back over to the ecu to allow that to do its magic. So there are many possibilities.
For the time being, you can use the MBC and get real good results and maybe even convince you that the ecu can be put off for a while and your money can be focused on other needs for the car.
By the looks of things, your 9K is the newer style engine setup that incorporates the AIC on the top on the engine instead of the older design where it sits closer to the front of the compartment. if that is the case, I will look into a place for a TB tap in that car and see if we can come up with a good solution for boost tap on that car. If we can, than the MBC+A for the 9K can be born.
You game for some trials?
