I took a piece of steel about 6" long ,2" wide, and .25" thick. Heated with torch and bent both ends 90'or so, so it looked like a bowtie sort of. The bent ends enabled me to bolt them to the body while the middle lined up flat on top of the shock. I drilled a hole where the shock would come through and bolted the piece to the body. It worked absolutely fine for years until the rest of the car rusted out
