I think "Ragnar," who modifies Jetronic ECUs in Sweden, and maybe others, have posted that the later LH2.2 chips had improved fuel maps. Seems reasonable enough.
BTW, there is a difference between ECUs for manuals vs. autos, though I don't know how they are different. Also, don't assume that just because you've found a junker 5-speed '87 9kt, it'll have the right ECU--parts catalog shows two different ECUs for that year. FWIW, Raul's page says to use Bosch -538, which, presumably, corresponds to the later ECU in the catalog, Saab p/n 9393463.
But that may be moot: Consider that the dyno graph he posted was not his own (dyno shop located many 100s of miles from his home, and shop confirmed that they'd never dyno'd a Saab). In light of this, and absent corroboration from a credible source, his suggestion to use the -538 box is without value. IMO...
