9000T Airbags or Stiffer springs?

The car is a 92 9000T with Koni's front and rear and Kilen springs. Up front the springs are great, stiff, but not so stiff that I lose contact with the road over crappy pavement...

In rear it awful though...The car was hitting the bump stops until I cut them, then it started rubbing on my tires (225/50r15 on 7inch wheels)...

So I put spacers from sasab and that helped for the most part, but now the handling isn't as good, as the rear sits nearly and inch higher, and the uber soft springs still compress way too much. I had a 70lb jack in the rear hatch area and I noticed the car was sitting significantly lower...

Anyway you slice, these springs are way too soft. I can either try to purchase another set of only rear springs that are stiffer (I'm very happy with the front) or I can put airbags in to reinforce the current set-up.

I'd like to drop the rear to about half way between where it sits with and without the spacer will airbags adjust height at all? Or do they just reinforce the spring rate while keeping the same ride height?

Are they a legitimate performance option? Can I pump them up to desired stiffness and expect my car to handle well and last, or are they only good for intermittent use?
