OK, I know this has all been said before, but I am so pleased with these three mods, I felt I had to write. I strongly feel that these three upgrades are required to change the Viggen from a fast, comfortable but awkward handling car to the vehicle it should have been when it left the factory. Here they are in my order of change:
1) TIRES - if you have those worthless P6000, toss 'em. I have dedicated winter wheels and tires, so I chose Toyo T1S for the other three seasons. There are other choices and all will be better than the P6000.
2) MP Performance Steering Rack Clamp and Brace. Reduce and/or eliminate torque steer. Not much else to say.
3) MP Performance Rear Anti-Roll Bar. I strongly consider this a MUST DO for any owner who considers him or herself an enthusiast. This upgrade made the biggest change to my car. Without this upgrade my Viggen had a tremendous amount of body roll in corners and heavy understeer. Now it handles flat through the twisties and typical front-drive understeer is very much reduced. Again, there are other options here, I went with MP for their high level of hardware, great price and good experience with their Steering Rack bits.
I also have a K&N replacement air filter. While performance improvement is debateable, convenience and cost is improved.
Finally, this week, I am installing Porterfield R4-S pads on the front as I prepare for my first track day with my Viggen. I have used these pads in my past street cars and have had great experiences for use on a street car that gets driven in occasional autocrosses and a track day or two per year.
