I'm not an automotive engineer (not nearly smart enough for that) but my comment was based on two things. Note that I didn't want to turn this into a flame-fest, but my thoughts were:
First, as an automaker, seems to me you should built in a safety margin, so that it will last for a reasonable amount of time. Wonder why everyone loves Porsche? They're built very tank-like, like Saab (used to) be. They prove it at every endurance race, when some insane number of finishers are Porsches. I worked at a Porsche shop in high school, and remember marvelling over all the intricate castings; every part of the cars is well thought out and like kinetic sculpture. If you build a high performance car, you should expect that it may spend some time being driven in a spirited manner. It may be driven like a grocery getter, but not many enthusiasts buy Caravans for trackdays, autocross, or whatever.
Second, flogging a car on the street is NOT all that hard on it, compared to driving on track, whether autocross or big track. If you drive it at over 7 tenths, it becomes a self-limiting problem, because you die, or end up in jail. On the track, you see much higher cornering and braking loads, along with sustained heavy throttle application. Again, not an engineer, but I'm guessing that your EGT's would be higher on a lap of say, Mid-Ohio, than you could ever get them on the street(hopefully someone has some facts). Even after a 1 minute autocross run, the the fans are running, it's HOT under the hood, and the brakes and tires are HOT. I spend alot of time left foot braking to get the beast to rotate, which I guess keeps EGT's up somewhat, even under base boost.
I've done occasional top-speed quests on every car I owned, and I'm guessing most enthusiasts do the same. I've "only" had my Aero up to ~130 indicated (uphill), while extricating myself from a road rage situation. Not saying going this fast on the street is smart, by any means, but it's pretty easy to get a 225hp car going very fast on a straight road. It's the turning and stopping that's hard :-)
