1988 9000T-many mods;-)
what a difference the Volvo setup makes! As Jak experienced the idle is very sensitive, but even with my half baked AIC valve (which isn't even the correct # for my car---I pulled it of a NA C900 in hte middle of a road trip when mine failed!) I have good solid idle around 825-850RPM. I promise Jak, I'll get the correct AIC....doesn't seem to matter though;-)
General performance is excellent, in terms of drivability as compared to the Saab setup with larger injectors. Light throttle response feels as smooth as a completely stock Saab setup (as in factory stock). There are no 'dead spots' (ie rich spots) in the RPM range when reving the engine in neutral...and foot to the floor acceleration is silky smooth.
The exhaust note is a slight bit quieter, possibly do to the better mixture......and I have NO more burble or popping when I deccelerate down a hit or to a light...and one more thing, the car fires up quite a bit quicker.
a great setup for those who like to tinker. One recommendation, however, make sure the equipment that you pick up at the bone yard is functioning in tip top shape. I had the luxury of using my girlfriend's low mileage Volvo'86 760T to test all my components before I installed them.
It will take the 9000 owners a few hours to do, as the manifold and peripherals have to be disconnected/removed to access the injectors and wiring....always a little bit of a headache. Easier for C900 owners;-)
Anyway, the swap is worth the time (and sometimes trouble). When I get a digital, I'll have to post some pics of what the setup looks like.
Thanks again Jak for the seemingly countless emails discussing Volvo FI stuff.....and skateboarding. You do a fairly good frontside;-)
