I just installed the SD LH 2.4 fuel chip and I'm quite impressed with it. For only $100 it seems very worthwhile. My car
has a boost upgrade to about 15-17 with Brad's modified vacuum can and 20 degrees of spark advance. Prior to the
EPROM upgrade, I had only installed a 2.8 bar regulator as far for a fueling upgrade.
Just prior to installing the chip, for the last several weeks my car had lost throttle response and seemed to be running
leaner, apparently due to the exhaust system freeing up (muffler, cat.?). Leaner fueling also seems indicated because the
exhaust sounds thoatier on deacceleration.
After installing the chip, throttle response seems much better and there is better acceleration before boost comes on.
The car also seems to accelerate harder for a given amount of boost. I still need more fuel, though, because
much less boost is available under cool evening conditions. I have a set of FMS 24 lb injectors on order to take care of
this.
I've spoken to Gary at Swedish Dynamics and what I understand about the chip is that idle fueling is left stock, fueling is
increased (increased injector dwell time) more progressively, and the fuel pump cutoff upon reaching a certain threshold
is removed (rpm limit removal is not available for legal reasons). I'm not sure about full throttle but it's possible that
further enrichment is available under even this condition. Anyway, I'm very impressed and think I will even get more
mileage because I don't need to get into the boost as much in normal driving.
For those of you using injectors too large for the stock EPROM settings to take care of fueling at idle, Gary says that the
idle fuel setting can be leaned out to return stock idle control.
