..and don't plan to unless the opportunity presents itself (at a Saab event or the like) for cheap. My goal has been less about HP and more about getting the engine to respond better throughout the range of normal driving.
I just took the car out to get gas (it is a beautiful day and it is a convertible)and was again struck by how nicely it pulls now compared to before the fuel rail/fuel injector change.
The setup came from 900S (search for Meatball or 900S) who has done similiar, although more extreme midifications to his 2.3L NA engine to include porting/ polishing and decking the engine to a compression ratio of over 13:1 (if memory serves).
A quick cost breakdown:
- Fuel Rail with 3.8 bar FPR $125 (bought from 900S)
- 19 lbs. injectors - $110 ($220 for a set of 8)
- Taliferro intake pipe - $130
- 3 inch air box mod - $2
Pulling the fuel rail is not that hard, took me about 2.5 nours moving real slow.
