I had the 215-40-17's on my SPG

When I initially purchased the 17 inch wheels, the shop tested a 215 40 17 setup. The rear tires rubbed when entering any kind of incline or hitting a bump in the road. Also, the front tires rubbed when turning.
You may be able to prevent the tires from rubbing by either slightly increasing the spring height or installing some sort of stoppers (I'm not a suspension guy).
I ended up replacing with 40's. I don't have a scanned pic but the 40's fit much better. The 17's looked great on the car and it handled like it was on rails. Harsh ride though. Actually, I'll probably be getting rid of the wheels soon (and the car).
