Is that in a low speed event like Autocross, you are neither covered by your warranty or car insurance. However, if you are doing 150mph down the highway and throwing into corners and such, you maintain both coverages........
Mitsubishi issued a statement that they do not actively seek out folks. Subaru has done the same. BMW, Dodge, Honda, and Acura actually offer contingency prizes if you win national events driving their cars last time I checked.
I attended the Saab Viggen Flight Academy, which covered alot of autocross including handouts..(I still have them just in case Saab decides to make it an issue). I've alsp not run across anyone having problems with warranty coverage in my SCCA region. I think the issue is more likely on a local dealer looking for an "out" for doing the warranty work, and customers who are asking the dealership to cover their abuse: dropping the clutch repeatedly isn't going to be good for the car and I don't think the warranty should be used for this kind of abuse. However, I do believe any denied claims should be backed up with specific evidence of abuse. A autocross event is not abuse in my mind, especially for a car that is marketed as a performance car.
