Another PAECO Update Posted by Shaun [Email] (#683) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Shaun) on Fri, 30 Mar 2001 19:18:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I left work early today and removed the head from my 85 900T. As you already know, the exhaust cam sprocket and point where it mates up to cam are know worthless thanks to PAECO.
After pulling the head, the each of the eight exhaust valves left little half moon, or near half moon, indentations in the Swain Coating.
Ex. Valves on #2 were still open...maybe a 1/16th of an inch. I'm sure the other ex. valves aren't perfect either.
QUESTIONS:
1. Anyone think the pistons are worthless now?? Or do you think they can still be used. There's defintely gouges in the pistons, but I don't know that the gouges are so deep that they are useless or would affect the performance?
2. Anyone think the bearings would be adversely affected by the piston to valve contact, i.e., piston is going up makes contact, thus putting some sort of strain on the rod-crank-bearing assembly.
3. Any other comments or thoughts (other than PAECO is worthless)?
I did take some photos and if I can figure out how to post sometime soon, I'll post them. This whole thing is turning VERY weird.
