I just recently purchased my first Saab and I love it('86 900S 4dr). I just bought another one today to use as a project car. It is a 2dr '86 900T 16V. It needs a new transmission. It currntly has auto, but want to put in 5spd. I am also planning on increasing horsepower (250 range). My Saab mechanic says the auto to 5spd change is not a big deal. He recomended that I put in a limited slip differential(he said he only knows of one company that makes them). I am also planning on putting a kevlar clutch kit. I guess I have a couple of questions. My mechanic wants to put a oem trans. from another saab he has along with the limited slip differential. Can I just buy a whole new 5spd trans. instead? Does anyone make quality replacements for high hp applications? Does anyone know about the limited slip? Also, I need sources for performance parts? My mechanic uses spg9. I have found Sweedish Dynamics. Do they make quality parts? This is my first time doing all this to a car and I will not be doing the work myself. I can trust my mechanic (he is a friend of mine). Any info would be great. This is all new to me. I do not have a huge knowledge of cars. Sorry if I am all ove the place. There is so much info to take in. Thank you.
