I don't know about quirky. How about different, or even difficult, as a parent would say. I look normal. I come from athletic, educated stock. All-American upbringing. I suppose a love for music was a first hint at being different in my family, followed by gravitating toward those wierd 10 speed racing bikes (think early 70's mentality) instead of motorcycles like all the other kids. Among my first "different" bikes was a Belgian made Browning (yes, the company known for it's firearms) 10 speed touring bike which combined the best of European and Japanese components, that to this day is still the most awesomely engineered and perfect bike I've ever owned. The bike I own now? I don't even know what it is. I bought it used from a bike shop in the city, the previous owner repainting it with no markings or decals. It's a mix of average and quality components, light as a feather yet strong. And then there was playing music for a living through the years, playing bass, preferring Guild over Fender or Gibson. Maybe excelling at working on military war craft made me quirky. Or supplementing my post military career with plumbing. And now I work in entertainment media production and specialize in services for the comedy community here in LA. If I'm not bent over the engine bay of my car, I'm staring at a computer monitor editing something or other for x, y or z TV comedian, or working at one of the comedy clubs around town. Cripes, I don't know. I suppose I am a bit odd. Not nearly as kooky and quirky as the comedians I work with thank god! Functionally, happily abby normal, just like my car - 82 C900T sedan with a 60K 86 16VT implant engine mated to the original CIS fuel system, a newly installed custom FMIC, upgraded suspension, replaced interior, and balls out sound system.
