The metal endcap of the Optiflow filter gets too hot to touch after normal driving, so just like everyone has been posting for awhile, it dosen't seem that things are nearly Optimized...So, in response:
I think I'm going to do it unless someone talks me out of it. There are two nice body lines going down both sides of the hood and this vent I've found will run parallell to one of those lines when the vanes themselves are perpendicular to the airflow...so it actually dosen't look too bad.
With a curved guard directly overtop of my Optiflow and drainage underneath, The problem of potential un-metered water in the intake is eliminated. I will seal around the bottom (probably with some fiberglass matting, with the exception of a small drainage hole) and at the hood with some thick weather stripping. So potentially a mild ram-air effect may be generated.
Any thoughts?
