Im going to do a fmic install, and I was looking at the car... there are two bolts that hold the radiator to the top crossmember at the front of the car, there are also rubber spacers to hold the radiator away from it a little. Is there any reason why it would be a bad idea to put longer bolts and longer spacers inplace of the stock ones. This would set the topof the radiator back a few inches. Then I would undo the two bolts that hold down the AC radiator and move the top of it back the same amount.
What I am looking to acomplish is put a thicker intercooler right behind the grill. I measured it and if i put both radiators,I can fit a good sized intercooler there.
Then I am planning on cutting some metal on the virticle supports that are welded to the top crossmember, and cuttind some off of the headlight shields. This would give me enough room to run good sized tubing from the turbo to the intercooler with the shortest distance traveled.
I want to know if it is ok to cut metal off the virticle support and the headlight shield. Also has anyone ever tried or succeded in routing intake tubes in this area. Also does anyone think that it's a good idea, or a bad one for that matter.
