VDO boost gauge in, need more fuel now?

FINALLY got around to installing my boost gauge. My A/F gauge should arrive tomorrow, once I pop that in, I'll screw everything back together and I'll snap some pictures of my gauge pod, and the two relays I added to run everything (everything being my stereo, and gauge illumination).
Here's the deal. I was pretty happy to see that I'm getting right on 15 psi boost now, which corresponds to 1/4 or so into the red. 12 psi in my car corresponds to the yellow/red division on the stock gauge. Sometimes it is solid at 15 psi and stays there as long as I can take it (not long with traffic around these parts). Other times, I get some wild fluctuations between roughly 11 psi and 13 psi. At these points, I actually am hearing some pinging from the engine. This is a symptom of not enough fuel, correct? I used to hear the same thing back when I first got my car and was using 87 octane fuel, and higher octane cured that..
We'll see what the A/F gauge says tomorrow..
For reference, a list of my upgrades can be seen at the link below.
TIA for any thoughts!
