...the wheels would have to be turned to go up the ramps. With the wheels turned you would have better access to one tire but worse access to the other tire.
If your ramps won't work and you don't have jack stands, then just jack the car up, slide the ramps under the wheels, and then lower the car onto the ramps. That way you can use the ramps the way you would use the jack stands and you would be able to safely go under the vehicle.
