The reasoning is that the flow of the intake helps pull the fumes from the crankcase and breaking the circuit would hinder the venting of the fumes from the crankcase...not sure how much logic lies in this though. By not applying due to extra boost I was reasoning the extra boost would provide enough pressure to evacuate fumes w/o the need for extra "pull" from the intake....didnt mean to imply neg. pressure under boost.
I bet a Dawe's device would be a good valve to use if equipped with the right sized barb. A very light spring would be in order obviously. Once the system pressurizes the ball would move and the fumes would vent. Might be a pain to keep clean but I would bet the catch would do its job well enough and there would be little need for cleaning. Good thinking on the reverse flow.
