At this point you are traction limited in the 1st two gears. The SMBC lets you get to the limit of the tire grip in those gears, but the TCS system then takes over from there. So your performance is in many ways limited by the tire tread compound. So your choice of tires makes a difference. And with this situation, going to a stage III will not make your tires grip any better in those two gears. A 3" down pipe might make things a bit more responsive, but the SMBC has pretty well taken you to rates of getting on boost that are very good already. The SMBC has also allowed the K&N to increase boost responsiveness that would otherwise not be realized with the stock system. The 3" DP would increase power, but that might not come into play until 3rd gear. The above is my extrapolation of my experiences woth a 9-5 Aero, K&N and SMBC. Otherwise stock but not for long!

The system may be octane limited. Not much you can do if your pump gas is not 93. But when you are on the edge of octane, poor spray patterns, deposits and plug issues can make the trionic run things a bit off. If you ever get on the throttle and there seems to be a bit of hesitation and as you get off the trottle a bit, power increases and feels more willing... I think that that is octane. In my case, spiking my available 92 octane to 93 indicates that that is true as such things then go away. Techron Conentrate can help when octane issues are induced by poor spray patterns or combustion chamber hot spots.

Plugs need to be good. Platinum plugs seem to have some problems and seem to hold the trionic tuning back on the higher output T7 ECU mods. So NGK BCPR7ES11s should be used. Gap to .037, although some indicate good performance at .040- .041. But when you run at that gap, frequent regapping will be required. I and Jeff (T5) have found that these plugs seem to run better and cleaner if hacked. Grind the ground electrode corners off that hang out over the projection of the center electrode. This reduced flame kernel quenching. Remove external corners and edges slightly as these adversely increase heat transfer to the ground electrode *. With the T5, smoother power on boost is reported. With my T7, running seems improved overall, but it is subtle.

* hard to explain fully

So no major gains, but perhaps some slight changes can help the T7 run a more agressive state of tune. If you have great fuel, perhaps not too much to be gained. The SMBC is providing a good increase in power for the first two gears already. And remember, in the lower gears, you speed can be limited by the grip of your tires, so tire choice matters.
