Alex,
I had a 97 Aero, stock, and very fast. 14.9 seconds with stock tires in the 1/4 is correct. I have done intake, exhaust and ECU upgrades to my current 97 CSE auto. If you want to improve the 1/4 mile times of the 9000, you have to do it on the top end as you can't get a 9000 off the line unless you opt for a limited slip unit....very expensive. My CSE auto stays even with the new Honda Accords which do the 1/4 in 14.9 sec.
I think with limited slip and a few engine bolt on mods the Aero could get to very low 14's and possibly break the 14 sec barrier. remember, the tranny isn't exactly made for speed shifting either.
