I think its safe to say that the stock bottom end is good to about 350BHP with torque in the same area
I have heard that above 7KRPM that the stock rod bolts have snaped & thrown a rod but only heard this from one source & dident hear the same thing from anyone else I had my engine up to about 7500RPM a few times & the valves floated infact they left lil prints on the pistons but the botom end heald together fine (head & valves werent dammaged)
pistons then rods probably in that order as power is increased
Im sure the crank can deal with quite a bit more
I have tortured my stock pistons at less than 300BHP but with audible pre ignition at times & extremeley high EGTs
its all about rings man use the OE rings or Im running the federal mogul rings which use a chrome/steel top ring
frank stromqvist sugjests OE or those perfect circle gapless rings
an example of bad rings is a car I have here which the last "engine builder" used cast iron top rings which broke in 6 months & one of the pistons broke as well just below the first ring land
so rings are critical
thats my 2 cents
take care
