the NA intake cam will raise the compression Posted by jak [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: No bent valves!!!! 8) but new question, Price, Sat, 11 Sep 2004 20:09:59 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
because it closes the intake valve a lil erlyer
Ive been thinking about trying one & using an 85 exhaust cam
all OG NA cams are the same & all turbo & NA exhaust cams are the same
there were a total of 3 stock intake cams
1,NA
2,84-85 intake with one shorter lobe
3,the 86 & later symetrical turbo cam
there were 2 exhaust cams used
1,the 84-85 turbo cam
2 the other cam used in all NA & turbo OG 2.0 & 2.1
there may have been one other turbo cam used on the intake side but Im not sure on that one
the combonation of the 85 exhaust cam & NA intake cam reduce overlap (the NA intake cam closes erlyer & the 85 exhaust cam opens later both have a shorter duration than the others) & allow for retention of more combustables
the NA intake cam will make the engine feel stronger off boost & therefore improve spoolup but at the risk of more pre ignition
take care
JAK
