There are alot of misconceptions about TT set-ups, the first is that it will spool quicker i.e. two small turbos will spool faster than one big turbo...the problem with that idea is that each of those turbos will now only be seeing half as much exhuast gas...which will net no improvement in spool time. Sequential turbos can reduce spool time, but are tricky and require complicated control systems.
Some people think one = power two turbos = 2X Power... but practical applications like big HP supras, you will almost always see single turbo conversions for those looking for the most HP.
The only real reason to go with 2 turbos is if plumbing dictates it or if do you not have to the room to fit a single turbo big enough for your desired boost level (which is related to the first reason) basically a good candidate for a twin turbo is a V engine, where the cylinder heads are far apart and there fore you cannot place a single turbo close to both of the exhaust manifolds...In theory a 2.0 liter flat 4 would be a better candidate than a 3.2 straight 6 for a dual turbo set-up.
