I'm not an engineer but my partner is. I've learned everything the hard way through trial and error and dyno testing. When we did the testing on this pipe we did test measure the intake temps on average from the oem plastic tube to the stainless steel delivery pipe and the differance was 5 degree's. We did not do a comparison of intake temps compared to a aluminum delivery pipe verse a SS one, but would assume a greater increase due to it's heat absorbtion.
The real issue here is how everything works together. If your going to build something simply make it the best you can. SS aborbs heat the least out of plastic and especially aluminum. Another flaw in the whole process is that we want to be able to make parts cost effective, so people can afford them($700 for a part is crazy). Plastic is the least expensive followed by SS and then aluminum. Why use something that is not the best for your application in terms of performance or cost? Finally you want something that looks nice. Wraping it may increase the performance but it doesn't look good. Painting it with a chrome ceramic paint may give the same performance while looking the best and for this reason it is very desired.
