a few words on that :-) Posted by jak [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: More torque or more horsepower?, Patrick (Houston), Thu, 7 Oct 2004 16:31:11 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I think that using a bigger turbo & having things happen later is better & you just adjust your driving habits
you can make more torque at 4KRPM than you can at 2500RPM with a turbo engine & if you want the big power you have to wait for it
Ive noticed on my car which is pretty well tuned waiting for that lil extra time for the power the power band will actualy become wider as well as stronger take for example my cummins TD in my truck that thing makes 400 ft lbs of torque & 150BHP that torque is there for like a 300 RPM duration
HP is just a calculated # based on how long you hold torque up there than there is like the mazda rotary NA engine which spinn for days & make good HP for an na engine but have verry little torque so a car wih more HP & good torque is a good driveable car
we drive turbo cars if you want instant torque buy a V8 :-)
no but seriously if you go for a tiny turbo for quick spool up you are verry limited in the power you will make ultimatly
thats my 2 cents
take care
