the other plastic tank unit the increase in flow is neglagable at best over any other OE 900 IC
I dont feel second guessed at all you should try out a few difernent setups & see how you feel about them Ill share my expierences with the setups Ive run :-)
the tallon IC does have like 2 inch inlet & outlet but that is a far less restrictive than the OE unit the tallon unit is hands down a better IC I fealt a huge diference in my car
if you look at them side by side the talon core is almost 2 times as thick than its a flow thru instead of a U flow so when you look at the saab IC it is actualy half the core dimention you are taking into acount when estimating flow so the tallon side mount flows almost 4 times what the OE unit does but Im sure the small inlet & outlet effect that
somewhat
its still a side mount sitting in a sauna not removing that much heat from the intake air so even with the greater flow I still had to keep the timing pretty conservative to reduce pre ignition
now on to the starion front mount unit I now run it has the same core dimentions as the stock unit but is cross flow so it flows aproximatly 2 times what the OE unit does & the one inch of inlet & outlet that is 2 inch diameter is a restriction but Ill bet the IC still far outflows the OE unit plus its out front getting chilly the starion units core is aproximate to the viggen or 9KIC they al flow about the same the viggens also run a verry small throttlebody pipe almost as small as the inlet & outlet on the starion IC & they are making pretty good power :-)
the tallon unit was a great upgrade from the OE unit & the starion front mount blew doors on the tallon IC you have to drive your car with the diferent setups to trueley apriciate the diference
the starion unit isent that good of an IC I actualy put it in there as a temporary IC till I get my double 900 IC together (using short rows & long tanks) which should flow about 300 CFMt(4 times what the OE unit does) but even though the starion IC isent that good it is one of the best things Ive done to the car performance wise with the front mount I am able to run a more advanced timing without pre ignition which produces more power I realy am verry happy with it & know the limitations on the dyno of the stock unit & what my car dynos at with this one & there is a big diference
you take care
JAK
