You'll want to search elsewhere, but alcohol is corrosive, so it will wreck your fuel system.

E85-burning Flexible Fuel Vehichles (FFVs) such as those made by Ford use corrosion-resistant fuel system components, and utilize a sensor that determines which type of fuel is being used for the purpose of optimizing engine control, e.g., timing, etc.

Try googling "Flexible Fuel Vehicles", "FFV" "E85 fuel" etc.

The 95 octane rating is real.

My guess is that you'll be okay only if you retrofit the fuel system to corrosion-resistant parts, which may negate any economy you'd enjoy by purchasing the E85. May want to ensure your O2 sensor is fresh, too?? I assume that running a fuel with less energy will make the car run lean so perhaps a good sensor will help keep the car properly fueled. Though, you may have problems in open loop when O2 sensor does nothing. It'd be interesting to put a wideband O2 sensor on to see what goes on. You might gain some mileage with more advanced timing, too??

BTW, whether crop-based fuels are actually fuel-efficient is open to debate -- some studies have found that more energy goes into making the stuff than what ends up being produced (called a negative "net energy value"). This is the problem with hydrogen, but to a much lesser degree (for now, anyway).

Post back what you learn.
