cheap grippy clutch disk longish Posted by jak [Email] (#195) [Profile/Gallery] (more from jak) on Sat, 7 Apr 2001 13:24:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I posted erlier about my 85 spg breaking loose a new sachs disk & PP.
friday we were slow so I installed the disk which I had built by our local clutch & brake reliner with my old sachs disk which was in perfect condition & was breaking loose in fifth as well.
the sachs PP is definately a weaker unit I think its ok for an N/A 900 but not a turbo the diaphram spring is thiner than the OE beck borg unit.
I put a strait edge on my old PP & it was flat & the ceramic bronse side of the disk is tward the PP so it will get thrashed anyway so I used my old BECK BORG PP
I resurfaced the FW a week ago when I put the new sachs clutch in so it was OK.
I had him put kevlar pads on the FW side. it is a long lasitng grippy friction material that wont tear up my FW
the result.
right away the enguagement is a smaller area in pedal travel & as it seated I get a slight shudder at low rpm enguagement when the disk is cold but it wont break loose & has a much more positive feel
the disk cost me my old core & $100.I am verry pleased
know anyone who needs a 1 week old sachs PP & disk in perfect condition pre seated?
have fun
