Hello cess, we have our C-900T and early 9000T custom piston and rod combinations perfected and are currently working on all of the '94 up versions. The best thing is when you have the engine apart to send us piston and rod samples to go by. I believe in your application we would go to a longer rod with a shorted pin height piston because of the 2.3's longer stroke. We recommend high silicon piston forgings for street use and the 2618 forgings for race only and over 400 HP applications. We have reasonably priced rods that will handle lots of power however light weight rods (like Damien's) that will handle the same power levels will of course be much more expensive. Removing the balance shafts is the only way to go and the best way to do it is with the engine out of the car. For best results with the balance shafts removed we recommend lightening your crankshaft which effectively makes your counter weights heavier. On the early Saab's including yours we go with a stainless steel o-ringed copper head gasket because the '94 up MLS (multi-layer steel) ones won't fit the early cars. Other than that just clean work and precision balancing and your all set! Hope this helps, Dave
