The flywheel mass does not affect HP directly, but reduces the apparent 'vehicle mass' that the engine sees, as the engine is able to accelerate a bit faster. So its a dynamic response issue. A rolling road dyno would not detect an increase in peak HP or torque. So the engine would be a bit more reponsive when asked to increase RPMs rapidly. The feel of increased reposiveness is a good goal.
Clutch life is much more dependant on the driver's habits than the hardware unless the clutch is simply overpowered. In that case the life of the clutch would be days, not years. Once the clutch is engaged, as long as it does not slip, any increase in power/torque will have no effect on the clutch life. Most mods will not create enough torque to cause the clutch to slip. When the clutch is worn out, there will be slippage to let you know that its worn out. In that case, the clutch would soon be slipping with a stock setup.
