All of the 8 valve heads have the same combustion chamber design. Compression ratio is controlled by piston shape. All of the head casting were the same the only difference was most unleaded engines used sodium filled valve stems.
As for larger valves. We have them made for our circle track car. They are stainless steel and cost a lot less than valves from SAAB. Both the intake and exhuast are about 3mm head oversize. Our engine is not a turbo. For a turbo I would only increase the size of the exhaust valve.
As for 16 valve we have installed larger valves again going larger on the exhaust than the intake for turbo use.
