What are some of the reasons I'd lose oil pressure? I have a SAAB/VDO oil pressure gauge(factory) in the car. This car isn't my daily driver any more but I drive her every chance I get when it's not raining/snowing. I was running around 30 to 40 psi before I upgraded a lot of the parts in the eng bay. (Parts were just painted that's all) Nothing was done to the oil pump or any of the oil "routes". So I'm not sure what gives. Now the oil pressure stays around 20 and 10 while at idle. Dummy light never comes on. I thought it might be the extra oil cooler that I put in before the turbo but It's been in there for a while now. I didn't have this low of pressure at that time.
Oh I did have to replace the oil return line from the turbo because of a small oil leak at the turbo. Leak was very very slow. (about a drop or two after running her when she is sitting.) I ended up putting a return tube/line from one of my other 16v eng. At that time I replaced the gasket and the rubber o-ring at the block. But I don't see why this would drop my oil pressure. Both tubes looked the same. I will add the "new" tube came from an 87 and mines an 85.
I guess what I'm getting at first is 20psi ok?? And what would make it drop like that???
