I upped the performance to my 2000 9-5 in stages starting at 50 K ( as soon as the warranty was up, no sense in losing out on the warranty if it is still in place). Fisrt ( and still most important) installed the Saab Roadholding kit when a rear shock started leaking. Has the 2000 Aero sways ( or may be a tad thicker measures an extra 2mm around when I checked them.) The handling DRASTICALLY improved. The car sits lower all around although I do not like how the rear looks a bit lower than the fronts and the front could be taken down another inch over the 1/2 ( to Aero ) drop it gives. In do-over world I would have gone with the H&Rs and left the dampers and shocks alone but I didn't want a harsh ride and was sure that the Saab kit would be modest ( although I got to ride in a 99 9-5 with stock shocks( H&Rs only) and was impressed - I may still switch.

I climbed to stage III on the engine in phases. Added the K&N air filter then the Remus Cat back ( sounds a looks great )- Then the 3" downpipe and sport cat Didn't seem to change the sound but it sure was fun to open it up even with tehe stock ECU seemed a bit more powerful and the turbo kicked in right away.. A stage III ECU ( BSR - runs fine) came in at about 67K miles.

I am anal about oil changes and all maintenance as well and never thought any more about upping the perfomrance - it is not much more than an Aero now ( Although I might take Dean's advice and use the aftermarket filter and the car needs techron - also on Dean's recommendation- every 4 months or so or it doesn't drive quite "right".)

Now at 76K and the car never felt stronger. I drove it hard at first getting to know its limits but now I ussually just use the extra performance to get on the highway and around some putt-putts. ( Drive around town like the original and get teh same gas milage.

It was a great way to have fun working on the car, spread teh expense over a buncha months, and evry four or so months it was like a bought a new car!
