Hi Elliott, the original nuts will be fine for reuse, as long as they come off without stripping out. Jak noted that he reuses them but prior to reinstalling them he rebends the ends of them (using a chisel and hammer on a vise) If you look at the "lock" end of them it isn't a perfect circle to help keep them in place once they are installed
