A record is a record. Doesn't matter if you win the Stanley Cup by 1 goal or 5, you still win it! :)
IMO, the McLaren is still the king, just because it was designed with such purity in mind. The Koenigsegg is cool, but maybe not so cool as the Macca. Detractors will say that the Koenigsegg was designed with the top speed in mind the whole time, and uses a Ford based block, whereas the Macca "just happened" to do it. That is has taken so long for someone to topple McLaren is a testament to just how good they built it in the first place.
Mind you...9ff, the Porsche tuner, recorded a one-way high speed higher than McLaren too. I believe they did it at Nardo, but it's 'unofficial', although evo magazine pictured the GPS readout.
Regardless, each machine is marvelously constructed. I count myself lucky to have seen both the Koenigsegg and the McLaren in the flesh (and the Enzo, Carrera GT and Pagani too) and to see them run at Goodwood.
If the Bugatti Veyron ever runs, it is supposed to get up there in high speed too. And IIRC, that has four turbos....
