True, but the customer is not directly responsible for quality control of the manufacturing process. 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Obviously the end-goal is zero-defects at the customer level but sometimes that's just not economically feasible considering the overall pricing structure.

I have no idea what type of pricing MP has negoitated with their core supplier, and guessing at MPs quantity I wouldn't think that the supplier would sell at anything less than cost+30 margin or so, and considering the retail price of cores that size (you can't even buy a high-quality raw core for the same amount MP is selling their final product), and considering MPs stated charter to be "the affordable solution", and considering the customer price of the final item, it's probably likely that there's precious-little margin left-over and adding even a 5-10 minute test procedure to every piece could very well make the whole deal not viable. And of course, they could add a test procedure plus margin to every piece and raise their customer cost, but then the final price would be more... So that's why I'm not surprised, but anyway, I'm just speculating here. And you know what opinions are just like that everyone has. :)
