spg skirts/prep for paint

ok, I think I know finally how the regular/spg skirt thing finally works; i've got very good condition regular bumpers, so I just need the sides from wheel to wheel (by the way; I hope that spgs were only 2/3dr; can’t stand 4/5drs!) plus front and rear fender modifiers and a front lower strip. (?)
thing is, my orginal bumpers are black plastic, and I want the grey metallic look! what prep is needed to spray up, and what can you do about scuffs and scratches that are too deep to be covered by paint; will it except any kind of filler?
P.S. to purists; I’m in the UK where spg skirts are just known as aero styling, and were available on most models as an option; so I’m not creating a faux-spg, and I never would! What I have got though is a 4-spd automatic g/box, available on 900 in the later years; did U.S. get them?
