Trust me on this one. The .72 is the tallest gears available. This is right out of the saab factory manual. It is 33/24 do the math(24 divided by 33) it is .72. I guess you could play around with other combos and I tried this and the best you can do is tet to .67 and that is too much overdrive. My 89 SPG is has the standard turbo gears that I think are .77 or .82. I know people tha thave done this mod and are VERY happy with it. Think about how much more quiet you car is at 2800 vs 3500 and I gather that at 85MPH you would have about 2800 with the "8" gear set. The 8 refers to the 5th digit(i think) in the trans model number. IT says in the saab factory manual that all non turbo 16v cars from 89-93 had these but I Have NEVER seen them ever like this in US cars. YEs someone should make these as I think is one of the worse things about these turbo saabs they are too wound up at freewayspeed. Plus 1st gear is useless, in that you can't get boost up at all in time to shift. Plus you could cruise at 100MPH and get OK gas millage at around 3800RPM.
