My all-time quickest run for my stock Viggen Cv: 14.979 at 94.75. My average reaction time was .530 seconds. (Note that .500 is perfect.)

It was an awesome night at Baytown Friday, April Fools Day, 2005. The air was strong out of the north impeding great ETs at first, but was still eventually and the temps low - like 58F, and the air pressure high. Good turbo weather as Dave Scott put it. The crowds were small, too, with a backlog of people for only an hour or so between 8:30 and 9:30 or so.
I got there a bit later than the M5 guys, so after a few more runs Sanjay hit the stands and graciously agreed to do some video taping. Soon afterward the M5 guys called it a night - they'd been there since the track opened at 5:30.
Attached are my results. I was in my stock 2001 Saab 9-3 Viggen convertible. I was running stock 215/45-17 tires. I raced Sajeev in a Lincoln Mark VIII (?) that ran 14.9s. I also raced Dave Scott in his 2000 Viggen 5dr. Although his 1/4 mile times were comparable to mine, my experience with the tree made me prevail across the finish line. He was also running a taller tire at 225/45-17. This is the stock Saab 9-5 Aero tire. His 5dr weighs much less than the Cv, so with practice he should be able to take me.
I made my all-time quickest run for the Viggen: 14.979! This is still short of my personal best of 14.773 in my '91 Spirit R/T.
Drew Weaver was also there in his 9-3 HOT (High Output Turbo) 2.0 liter. Although smaller in displacement than the Viggen's 2.3L, he has some hardware goodies like larger intercooler, 3" full exhaust, and an aftermarket intake pipe from intercooler to turbo. He uses one of those broad band oxygen sensors and taps into it with a third wire to log his data. Afterward he showed us his a/f ratio and boost as a function of RPM. Coincidentally, he is a control systems engineer like me and Dave Scott. Drew's car was running shorter 205/50-16 tires. His car ran mid 14s. I told him I'll keep away from him for this night, but will meet him again with the Spirit R/T some other time.
Sajeev and Drew would've been a great match. Jeeves would've gotten the holeshot with his Cobra 4.6L V-8 a/t and his tree experience, but as Drew's turbo FWD came on he'd have caught up with Jeeves near the finish. Whether or not he passed Jeeves would depend on the two guys' reaction times. That's real racing!
Dave's son Jake was along to spectate. He added to the video Sanjay made and got some great shots of the two Viggens having it out.
We all had a great time sticking around after the track shut down at 10:45. We dug into the beers I brought and only left after they kicked us out around 11:15. The only way it would have been better is if those of you who couldn't make it would've been there.
