After most of the JT 3" system rotted out on my 91 9K turbo I finally settled on the Fair muffler franchise down the street to build a new sytem onto the JT downpipe.
New 3" aluminized pipe from the converter back, and even though they didn't use mandrel bends, the bends in the 9000 exhaust are so gentle that there isn't any significant reduction in pipe diameter. I opted to leave out the middle muffler this time. The shop was able to recycle the stainless tip from the JT exhaust, so it looks very modest from the outside.
The best part is the IMCO welded muffler, similar to a Flowmaster 50 series muffler. This thing makes a sharp metallic bark when you start the car, then settles down to a Mustang-like hollow rumble. Revving the engine to red-line and then shifting makes some awsome crackling back draw sounds. Oddly, the system is louder at idle than under heavy acceleration.
The whole thing installed came to $340.
